Our new coliving in Adeje, Tenerife South: Life, work & things to do

2nd September, 2025

Have you ever walked into a place and felt instantly at home?

That’s how Adeje was (and still is) for me. Our new coliving is finally here, and I want to share why this house feels different, what life in Adeje is like, and the little adventures waiting right outside the door (here’s a reel on what we’ve been up to!)

My first impressions of Adeje

The first time I walked through the town, something clicked.

It felt like a village, local, alive and full of charm. People say hello in the street. Everything is close. The views? Crazy beautiful.

Last year, a friend sent me a house listing here. I went to see it with my mum and Bartolo. The moment I walked in, I felt it: calm, warm, full of good energy.

It was more than a house, it felt like the right place to build our next community. That day, I knew we’d found it.

Why Adeje is ideal for long-term coliving

Adeje isn’t the kind of place you pass through on a quick holiday.

It’s set up for life. Cafés where you can work for hours, supermarkets a few minutes away, and buses that take you straight to the coast.

For digital nomads, that means you can actually build a routine: mornings on the laptop, afternoons at the gym or padel courts, weekends hiking or swimming.

Life feels steady and simple, but never dull (if you’re curious about Tenerife as a whole, I shared more about why it’s become such a strong base for digital nomads.)

That’s also why we set a two-month minimum stay at Cactus Adeje.

Longer stays give you time to settle properly, focus on work without the stress of moving, and connect with people on a deeper level. The community grows stronger, dinners feel more relaxed, and friendships have time to form.

It also saves you from what I call the “Airbnb shuffle”, hopping between flats, fixing Wi-Fi, never really settling. Here, everything’s ready. You arrive, you live.

If you’re new to coliving, I explained more about what coliving really means. And if you’d like a peek into what life at Cactus is like through our guests, you’ll find plenty of stories from our community in this blog.

A peek inside our coliving in Adeje

As soon as I saw the house, I could already imagine people living here.

Rooms with plenty of light, quiet corners for work, and a terrace that opens up to the sun.

There’s space for everyone. The house has 4 private rooms with a private bathroom and 1 private room with a shared bathroom. The kitchen and living areas always seem to invite conversation, whether it’s cooking together or sitting for a late-night tea.

Life in the house naturally brings people together. We’ll share meals, practice yoga, and join activities with our community in Valle San Lorenzo too. It feels bigger than one house, but still personal and close.

For me, this is what makes it more than a coliving space in Adeje. It’s a place for digital nomads in Tenerife who want both focus and connection.

What daily life in Adeje looks like

Living here, the days are steady and simple, just how I like them.

Mornings often start with a walk through the town. The streets are lined with small cafés, bakeries, and fruit shops where people greet each other like neighbours. It feels natural to slow down and enjoy these little routines.

On weekends there are markets and local fiestas that bring everyone together. Music, food, and dancing spill into the streets, and you feel part of something bigger than yourself.

The town has a mix of locals and expats, and that balance makes it easy to feel at home. You get the warmth of Canarian life with the chance to meet people from all over the world. It’s a place where remote work fits smoothly into daily rhythms.

For me, this is what living in Adeje is about. It’s not rushed, not touristy. It’s the kind of place where you can focus on your work, meet new people, and still feel grounded in local life.

Things I love doing in Adeje & nearby

When I close my laptop, here’s what you’ll see me doing and where I’ll go.

Sports & everyday life

One of the best things about Adeje?

It’s not only beaches and hikes. You’ve got everything close for daily life and to stay active. Supermarkets are just five minutes away, which makes long-term living so much easier.

There’s also a big gym in town and plenty of ways to move: padel, tennis, climbing, cycling, even dance or martial arts lessons. It’s easy to find a rhythm that keeps you healthy while working remotely.

And if you don’t drive, the buses make it simple. In a few minutes you can be at the beach in Las Americas, Los Cristianos or Costa Adeje.

Beaches

Some afternoons I go straight to the sea.

Playa de Ajabo is quiet and calm, while Playa del Duque in Costa Adeje has more of a polished, tourist feel. My favourite, though, is Playa de Diego Hernández. You reach it after a short 20-minute walk, and many evenings people gather there for sunset music and jamming. It feels like a hidden place only locals know.

Hikes

If you love trails, you’ll never run out of new paths to follow here.

Barranco del Infierno is the most famous, with its dramatic canyon views (though you’ll need to book ahead for this trail, as access is limited), but I also enjoy climbing up Roque del Conde or wandering paths around Callao Salvaje. Every route gives you a different view of Tenerife. Below is a breakdown of these hikes:

  • Roque del Conde:
    • Length: 5.18km
    • Elevation gain: 415m
    • Estimated time: 2.5 hours
    • Type: Circular
  • Callao Salvaje:
    • Length: 12.87km
    • Elevation gain: 153km
    • Estimated time: 6.5 hours
    • Type: One way

Cafés & Food

Cafés are my second office. Though honestly, if you know me, you know I get distracted more than I should!

For a good mix of coffee and atmosphere, I definitely recommend the below. Don’t just take my word for it, dropped down also some of the latest review:

  1. Rincón del Pan (4.3 ★ on Google): “Excellent. Excellent service is appreciated these days, and the staff is super friendly.”
  1. Heladería Paradise (5 ★ on Google): “Excellent gelato shop, offering high-quality, natural, artisanal, and 100% Italian products.“
  1. Le Croissant (4.8 ★ on Google): “The sweets are delicious, all handmade, and the coffee is unbeatable.“
  1. Café Gourmet (4.9 ★ on Google): “A wonderful place to spend an afternoon, with exquisite tapas. Great value for money.”

Food in Adeje is always fresh and full of flavour.

You’ll find local classics like papas arrugadas with mojo, but there’s also a dish unique to this town: Pollo de Adeje, fried chicken with red mojo. The best place to try it is Restaurante Oasis (literally a 2 minute walk from the house). Below are my favourite restaurants in town.

  1. Buddha Sano Canarias (4.9 ★ on Google): “The appetizers were 5+, two different main courses were 5+, and the service was nice, funny, and helpful. I wholeheartedly recommend it.”
  1. Vermuteria La Isa (4.6 ★ on Google): “Nice and authentic bar/restaurant, just next to the centre of Adeje. Always start your visit with one of her excellent vermouths. On the menu lots of different tapas from all over Spain, homemade with fresh products. Finish off with a glass of wine or a draught beer.”
  1. Arepera Gocharepa (4.6 ★ on Google): “Unbeatable value for money, the portions are ample. Decent service, the setting isn't the best, but that's not the point. Recommended!”
  1. Restaurante Oasis (4.2 ★ on Google): “The food was delicious, including the potatoes with mojo sauce and the chicken with mojo sauce. The service was incredible..”

More adventures

Weekends are for something different.

Whale watching is one of my favourite things, especially with the eco tours that not only take you out on the water but also teach you about the species that live between Tenerife and La Gomera.

On other days, it might be abseiling, climbing, diving, surfing, running or just exploring new spots along the coast. There’s always something to try.

Thinking of joining us at our new coliving in Adeje?

If you’ve been looking for a place where you can stay longer, focus on your work, and be part of a community, our new coliving in Adeje could be it.

What makes this house different from our Valle San Lorenzo and La Gomera locations is the two-month minimum stay. It’s for people who want to slow down, settle in, and build deeper connections while enjoying life in the south of Tenerife.

For me, this space feels like the balance we’ve always looked for at Cactus: steady routines, shared dinners, plenty of time for friendship, and the freedom to enjoy the island.

The house is fully booked until the end of January 2026. Our next availabilities start from 1 February 2026 onwards.

If that sounds like what you’ve been searching for, I’d love to welcome you here :) Book Your Stay 🌵
